How do I automatically add breaks to shifts?

Setting rules for automatic breaks in Atlas Scheduling

C
Written by Charles Vallières

Administrators can create rules that add breaks automatically on shifts that match the criteria.

  1. From the Schedule page, click the more (...) icon at the top right.

  2. Select Automated break rules.

  3. On the Automated break rules page, click Create to add a new rule.

  4. Select a length for the break, and whether it is paid or unpaid.

  5. Set the Rule conditions for your break (see below).

  6. Click Create to save this break.

Rule conditions

Administrators can define rules based on three criteria:

  • Shift duration: Breaks occur on shifts with a set duration or within a minimum or maximum range.

  • Location: Breaks apply to the specified locations.

  • Position: Breaks apply to the specified positions.

Additional information

  • New rules do not apply retroactively; they only affect shifts drafted after the rule is created.

  • During shift creation, you can remove any automatic breaks.

  • Administrators can delete automatic break rules from the same page.
