In order to guide your employees towards the type of request to use when they will be absent for a defined period, here's the difference between availability management and a time off request:

1 - Availability requests

If your employee would like to share with you their new school schedule, a period of the day when they will be unavailable each week (e.g. every Monday afternoon) or a short appointment, this will be done via Scheduling > Schedule > Requests > Availability tab.

* Please note: Atlas Scheduling assumes that employees are always available by default, but allows you to set periods of unavailability for individual employees.

As an administrator, if you don't use the availability feature, you can disable it via the Settings > Permission management > Allow availability management

2 - Time off requests

If your employee wishes to send you a request for an absence (like a sick day, an appointment or taking vacation), it is recommended to submit a time off request.

You can view these requests via the Time off > Time off requests.
