My employee's overtime is not calculated correctly

How overtime calculation works in Rotas and Workforce Management and how to correct it if it's wrong

It may happen that the overtime you anticipate and the overtime indicated in Rotas and Workforce Management do not correspond.

This article explains how overtime calculation works, as well as how to validate that your settings are correctly set.


1- Understanding overtime calculation

First of all, you need to understand how overtime is calculated in Rotas and Workforce Management.

You can set a value per day (daily) and per week (weekly).

If the employee exceeds daily overtime for a day, but does not exceed weekly overtime or exceeds weekly overtime, you will see daily overtime as follows in his or her attendance sheet:

If weekly overtime is greater than or equal to daily overtime, overtime will be displayed on the last day of the week.


2- Overtime settings not properly set up

If, despite the explanation of daily vs weekly overtime, you believe that the calculation is wrong for your employee, validate these 2 parameters:

2.1 Organisation settings (accessible to administrators only)

Validate that the overtime settings for the organisation are correctly set up under the “Settings” -> “General” tab.

2.2 Employee profile settings

It is also possible that an overtime threshold has been set in the employee's individual profile.

You can validate this in the employee's profile under “Settings”.


3- Recalculation

Please note that if the settings have been modified at the end of the period, past timesheets will not be adjusted.

If you need the change to apply to your employee's timesheet, simply make a modification to his/her timesheet (for example, add 1min and remove it) and a recalculation will be performed.
